  • Mayumi loves mammets. If you are a mammeteer or a mammet yourself, she will have a lot to say to you. She uses mammets in combat and to perform household tasks she doesn't feel like doing.

  • Mayumi is attempting to rekindle her love for pottery. It was a favorite way to pass the time with her mother while growing up, and she wants to pass on her parents' legacies.

  • Mayumi has killed fourteen people. Currently, she is dealing with the guilt, having some trouble processing her last kill.

  • Mayumi was recently gifted a spear from her mother, a symbol of her homeland which favors spears over swords. She wants to get better and make her mother proud, but she knows nothing about spears.

  • Mayumi is always writing in her notebook. She carries it everywhere, often sketching in it or writing notes while "interviewing" someone.

  • Mayumi is very young and naive, but she thinks she is smart and worldly. She'll often show her hand and overshare too much in conversations. Perhaps you seek to help guide her on the right path, or see her corrupted. Either works.

❝ Mayumi Joutouguu was born in the rugged Fanged Crescent, the mountainous region west of Doma, during the Garlean occupation of the broader region. Her mother and father were both skilled sculptors, and they often collaborated on work for temples and shrines. Her father, Qochi, was of the Joutouguu clan, a famous clan of warrior-artisans notable for their brown-tinged scales. Her mother, Erayo Chiyo, was matrilineally descended from a long line of hermits obsessed with divinity and immortality.Mayumi had a very free childhood. Her village was free from any Garlean intervention, and her parents did not believe in setting too many boundaries for her, so she was free to wander around and stay out late and explore the mountains when she wasn't stapled to her mother's hip. This gave her a reputation as a strange girl, and she didn't have many friends. She spent her days exploring, playing outside with her favorite auntie, and reading and writing.

Mayumi left home at 17, joining a free army of mammets led by an earth sorceress. Mayumi was impressed by the sorceress' purported achievements; according to the sorceress, this mammet army was present at the battle of Carteneau. She dutifully served for four years, involving herself in minor engagements and helping her master craft new mammets. Once the Garleans were removed from power in Doma, Mayumi and her master were able to make the trip westward to Eorzea to broaden their horizons.Upon arrival in Eorzea, Mayumi reconnected with her great aunt, an immortal sorceress named Uyo. Mayumi soon found herself stuck between her master and her beloved auntie. Jealous that Mayumi was spending so much time away from her, the earth sorceress began toying with her, inflicting Mayumi with headaches and making mammet simulacrums of her. Eventually, as expected, Uyo won out, and Mayumi was freed from the grasp of her now former master. Currently, Mayumi runs a cultural society for Fanged Crescent expats with her auntie.
